Giving

There are many ways to give to St Michael’s, through time, skill and financially.

Like all Parish churches, St Michael’s receives no funding from the state. Major fundraising and giving by the parishioners, supplemented by some legacies, have resulted in extensive renovations to the historic fabric of the church and in the new buildings and landscaping. However, day to day running costs have to be paid for entirely through the generous contributions of the congregation (donations, blue envelopes, the collection plate and Planned Giving) and fund raising events.

Planned Giving is one of the principal ways of helping St Michael’s and is the most effective way to give. Simply put, it is a commitment by you to give an amount of your choice to St Michael’s each month (or each quarter or year) by standing order.  The benefits for the church are that we know the money is pledged and we can budget ahead accordingly. This can be easily set up, amended and cancelled, please see a link to the form below.

If you are a UK taxpayer then we can claim tax back, through the Gift Aid scheme, from the Revenue and supplement any donation of yours by 25p for every £1 donated (or more if you pay a higher rate tax). If you are a higher rate tax payer you have an added benefit because on your tax return you can claim back whatever the difference is between the rate you pay and the 20% basic rate. Gift Aid reclamations are a very important part of our income, but in order to claim under the scheme we need you to make a once-off authorisation. Please find a link to the Gift Aid Form below.
