CHURCH OPEN FOR PRIVATE PRAYER. Saint Michael’s is now open to the public for prayer and reflection and you are welcome to come and spend time in the church. Appropriate procedures are in place for everyone’s safety. You can visit on your own or with anyone in your household. The church will be open from 9.30am until dusk every day, except Friday, and brief periods when services are being recorded. This information and more can be found in a newsletter distributed to every house in the parish, but for those of you who don’t live in the geographical parish you can find it here
VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED. As part of the recommendation for opening church to the public we need a large group of people to help with brief but regular cleaning of surfaces within church. This can be done in your own time, appropriate protection and materials will be provided and is neither time-consuming nor difficult. Volunteers should be people who are not considered to be in the vulnerable. Please consider offering your help for a job perhaps as little as once a fortnight that will take less than half an hour, and for a limited period only.
FiSH OPEN GARDENS. Like many other events this is going virtual this year but Fr Stephen shares the Vicarage garden, along with parishioners Fiona and Andrew Brannon and Coralie and James Day too! You can see the gardens here.
VIRTUAL COFFEE after Mass today at 11.30am for half an hour. Details of how to join the Zoom meeting (same link as last week) can be found in the Parish News email – or email Fr Stephen.
PET SERVICE, Sunday 6th September, 11.30am. As the service is held outside we are hopeful that we will be able to hold it, so do put the date in your diary.
Wednesday and Saturday Mass are broadcast live at 12 Noon and 9.30am respectively. You can join in with these on Facebook or You Tube at the time, or afterwards. Links to our Facebook page and You Tube channel can be found on the website.
Note: You don’t need to sign up to Facebook to watch – if a pop-up box invites you to join, please click it away and carry on watching.
This takes place via the interactive medium of ‘Zoom’ at 9am every day except Friday and Sunday. The links for this can be found in the Parish News email, or email the Vicar or Parish Office for the link.
8am Low Mass is broadcast live on Facebook and You Tube but can also be watched afterwards. To take part follow the links below
The 10am Sung Mass (pre-recorded) appears on the website at the usual time of 10am with a downloadable order of service.
PARISH OFFICE. During this time of reduced activity, the Parish Office will be open for half its usual hours. To ensure consistent cover a few hours will be covered each day Monday to Thursday, so please do keep using the office email as a contact point.
CALLING ALL COOKS. Please do send the Parish Office your favourite recipes for our Parish Cookbook. Here’s what we are looking for:
• Recipes with a list of ingredients and a short and clear method.
• A broad spread from savoury to sweet and baking, for adults and children.
• Recipes can be familiar favourites but with your own title (e.g. Lizzie’s Shepherd’s Pie) or a family recipe with a personal twist. If you have a personal story to add to it even better.
• No food pics (very hard to look good!) but may ask for a pic of you doing food prep to illustrate and bring to life.
• Up to 3 recipes per person.
The Parish Office will edit and have it professionally printed. The Cookbook will be sold as a unique gift to raise parish funds and will retail at something like £15 or £20. In due course we will ask for advance orders to ensure an adequate print run.
